ABOUT THE FESTIVAL

Washington State Thespians is thrilled to announce our state’s seventh annual Thespian Festival for students in grades six through nine.

The Washington State Junior Thespian Festival is a full day packed with Theatre Excellence Awards (previously known as Individual Events or IEs) and a generous variety of theatre workshops taught by professional theatre artists and educators. Participating in IEs offers students opportunities to share their work (monologues, songs, duets, and scenes) with their peers from programs across the state and receive advice and feedback from professional adjudicators. You will find inspiration in our theatre skills workshops that nurture artistic growth and development in both actors and budding theatre technicians. Our educators’ workshops (including Thespians 101!) offer teachers advice, learning plans, and a window into bringing theatre into the classroom. Most of all, Junior Thespians gives students and teachers opportunities to make new friends and share in developing performance and technical theatre skills all while sharing their love of theatre during this full day of presenting and learning.
